The Burn Prevention Award is presented for exceptional burn prevention efforts. The award is given to an individual whose burn prevention activities demonstrate local, regional, statewide or national impact for the past year and/or over their lifetime and professional career. The recipient is someone recognized as a prevention leader in the burn community who has achieved wide-scale reduction of burn injuries and progress toward elimination of burn injuries utilizing community partnerships.

Marty Ahrens, Research Manager, Fire Analysis, in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Applied Research group came to NFPA in 1997, after 11 years as the Research Analyst in the Massachusetts State Marshal’s office. Marty has written numerous reports on various aspects of the fire problem including home fires, smoke alarms, sprinklers, cooking fires, candle fires, vehicle fires, and fires in various occupancies.

She has been a member of the 电竞赚钱(南昌)手机版抽注下载v4.9版’s Burn Prevention Committee since 2014. Marty has an MSW from Boston University and a BA in Psychology from the University of Connecticut. She enjoys sharing her findings, talking with data users about how they use the information, and learning about new issues to research.

2020 Burn Prevention Award Nominations

The 2020 Burn Prevention Award nomination application is now open. Nominate your burn prevention award nominee, list the accomplishments and contributions to the burn prevention field, along with a brief summary statement.
